September and October are great months to visit Italy. The weather is warm and it’s harvest season. If possible, go in October. Just note that the days are shorter.
Sample Travel Plan
With 7–8 days, it’s hard to see every place on your list. Consider skipping Sardinia for now and focusing on the Tyrrhenian coast—from Monte Argentario and Orbetello to Gaeta, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.
Option 1: Florence to Amalfi (Driving)
Fly into Florence. Drive through Tuscany and continue south. High-speed trains run only between cities, so the smaller coastal towns are best reached by private driver or rental car.
Option 2: Florence & Amalfi (No Driving)
Spend 4 days in Florence and explore Tuscany with our small-group day trips. Next, take a private driver to coastal Liguria and the Cinque Terre. Then board the high-speed train to Naples and continue to Sorrento, your base for the Amalfi Coast. From here, visit Amalfi, Positano, Capri, and Paestum.
Option 3: Add Sardinia (Extended Trip)
Add 2–3 days to include Sardinia. We can book an overnight ferry with a private cabin. Plan at least 3–4 days on the island. Sample split: 10 nights total — 4 Florence, 3 Sorrento, 3 Sardinia.
