Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions! If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

  1. WHAT IS THE SAVOUR ITALY TOURS EXPERIENCE LIKE?

The Savour Italy Tours experience is all about discovering every aspect of the Italian life and the Bel Paese. All custom itineraries are carefully and personally curated by the owner Antonio, who has amassed decades of experience both in Italy and abroad.

  2. WHAT KIND OF HOTELS DO YOU USE?

Before we book a hotel for our travellers, our team visits it and inspects it from top to bottom. A hotel makes our short list only when it meets our standards for comfort, value, location and that little bit of flavour that turns a stay into something unique.

  3. CAN WE COMMUNICATE OVER EMAIL AND SKIP THE INITIAL PHONE CALL IN ORDER TO BUILDING A CUSTOM TRIP ITINERARY?

The idea behind our custom, tailor-made itineraries is to build something for you that is not standard and that you cannot purchase “off-the-shelf” online or at any travel agency. Therefore, the initial phone or video call is an informal meeting aimed to narrow down your travel style. You will understand more about how we work and if we are the right company to invest your travel money with. Plus, you will be getting a lot of free ideas and insights about Italy. So, come with a lot of questions! The initial phone call is not a sales pitch and you are not committed to buy anything.

  4. I HAVE SPECIAL MEAL REQUIREMENTS. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE ME WHEN I AM ON A TOUR?

Definitely! This is very common request. Just notify us of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking and we’ll make sure that you are provided with options during your journey.

  5. DOES SAVOUR ITALY TOURS ACCOMMODATE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED TRAVELLERS?

We want everyone to be able to explore and experience Italy. We work with partners who specialize in accessible travel and design wonderful itineraries with that in mind. Give us a call and talk to us about any physical disabilities or limitations and he can help you choose the best itinerary for you. If you require dedicated assistance, we ask that you plan to travel with a companion.

  6. DOES SAVOUR ITALY TOURS ARRANGE FLIGHTS?

While we can advise you on the best flight route, we do not purchase flights on behalf of clients. Many of our clients like to use their travel points or their preferred travel agent. If you need assistance in booking your flight, let us know and we will put you in touch with one of our partner travel agencies to help you find the best deal.

  7. DO I NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO ITALY?

Italy does not require U.S. or Canadian citizens to purchase an entry visa. Non-U.S. or non-Canadian citizens can check if a visa is required for entry by visiting: vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en. Please let us know if you have any questions.

  8. DO I NEED A PASSPORT TO GO TO ITALY?

Yes. Please check your passport’s expiration date before you reserve your tour. It must be valid for a certain number od months beyond your return date. Please check the current updates at: vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en

  9. ELECTRICITY: WHAT ADAPTER AND/OR TRANSFORMER DO I NEED WHEN WE ARE IN ITALY?

The current in Italy is 220V, 50Hz so you’ll need to bring a transformer for standard 110V North American appliances. Plugs have two round pins (three if grounded). Chargers on modern electronic devices (cameras, phones, laptops,…) already support both 110V and 220V. Please check the fine print on your chargers. In this case you will only need a plastic adapter for the different Italian socket. Don’t worry if you forget to bring one! These small plastic adapters can be purchased everywhere in Italian cities from an electrical supply store (elettricista) or at your nearest piazza’s markets! (See images at the bottom of the page.)

  10. HOW CAN YOU STAY CONNECTED WHILE IN ITALY?

    Here are some options:

    1. Bring your own phone and sign up for an international/global plan. For most travelers, it’s easiest to set up your own mobile phone with a basic international calling and/or data plan that’s customized to your needs

    2. Buy a SIM card. This option works best for people who plan to make a lot of calls while traveling. While this is cheaper if you are making calls to European numbers, your phone must be compatible (unlocked) and calls to North America are not included and expensive.

    3. Bring your own phone and do everything over Wi-Fi. Not only can you use Wi-Fi to get online, but you can also make phone calls and send text messages at no charge. Most hotels accommodations made by us offer free Wi-Fi. This option is fine but problematic if you cannot find a hot spot while away from the hotel.
