We left Donnafugata and leisurely walked back to our hotel.  It was hard to believe that our wonderful tour had come to an end!  Our last meal together was wonderful.  It was a lovely evening, warm and breezy.  Antonio found a quaint seafood restaurant that was a short walk from our hotel.  Once we were seated, the dishes started arriving at the table.

The antipasto was superb, a wide variety of delicious morsels from marinated olives and peppers to perfectly fried anchovies and fish cakes.  But it was the calamari that stole the show!  These were by far and away the very best I had ever had. They were teeny tiny just like popcorn, fried to perfection and full of flavour.

Tuna steak was next followed by a wonderful selection of desserts which were in limited supply creating a bit of competition at the table!

Naturally we enjoyed some delicious local wines throughout the evening including Sicily’s DOC Cerasuolo, it was a perfect pairing with the grilled tuna.  Once again, we left the restaurant fat and happy and enjoyed the stroll back to our hotel.  Unfortunately, this time we returned to our rooms only to face packing up for the very last time.

The next morning, we met outside the hotel ready for our final trip as a group to Palermo airport.  It was a quiet drive, each thinking about the next part of his or her journey. Some were going home, some back to Rome and others like myself chose to stay on in Sicily.  At the airport we all hugged, said our goodbyes and parted ways.  Another fabulous tour was all wrapped up; how two weeks can fly by!  Can’t help but think about doing this again, I think I may be hooked!
