There are so many great wines and regions featured in this latest release from the LCBO. From the usual Pinot Grigio in Trentino and Alto Adige, the cool Alpine region bordering Austria; to the omnipresent Tuscany with the usual selection of Chianti and Montepulciano wines; to full bodied reds of the warm island of Sicily.

One of my favourites is the Ramitello from the region of Molise, just beside Abruzzo. A balanced and fruity blend of Montepulciano and Aglianico.  (Check out the May tour of Southern Italy, where we will discover everything about Aglianico!)

Another gem is the Rivera Il Falcone Riserva Castel del Monte, from the region of Puglia. Puglia is a very well established wine region. I frequently recommend producers from this region as they are known to produce a high quality product at a fair price. Il Falcone features the native grape ‘Nero di Troia’. I like to serve this Riserva with oven roasted leg of lamb, or for vegetarian dish, melanzane (eggplant) alla parmigiana.

Salute!
